| July 7, 2008 : | Update re Robin & Ria Searle from their daughter, Jennifer Searle Mom and Dad continue to heal. Mom's cast is now off and she is wearing a removable splint. Dad is doing better as well and he will likely be discharged from St. John's at the end of next week to continue his rehab on an out-patient basis. I know they will be glad to go home, but in addition to continuing rehab much of the summer will be spent back and forth to St. Mike's for the many follow-up doctor's appointments scheduled. Dad's car was delivered back to their house last weekend and as Dad had been given a weekend "pass" from the hospital, he was there to see it. He now realizes how lucky he and Mom were to survive the crash. |
| June 16, 2008 : | Update re Robin Searle from his daughter, Jennifer Searle Dad has been transferred from St. Mike's to St. John's Rehabilitation Hospital where he is receiving both occupational therapy and physiotherapy daily to assist with his recovery. He continues to improve and we are pleased with this facility. |
| June 10, 2008 : | The BBC reports that Trevor Wilkinson, who founded the British sports car marque, TVR, has died at the age of 85 in Minorca, Spain, where he lived in retirement. Mr. Wilkinson had apparently been seriously ill, according to reports. He built his business in his hometown of Blackpool, and the company name, TVR, is just an abbreviation of his first name. Wilkinson left TVR in 1962 but remained owner until 1965, when the first in a succession of subsequent bosses took the reins. The one constant, however, has been the name - his name - that Trevor Wilkinson gave the company all those years ago, which has since appeared on some pretty impressive cars along the way. Rest in peace, Mr. Wilkinson. |
| June 9, 2008 : | Update re Robin Searle from his daughter, Jennifer Searle Thought I would pass on an update on Dad. Dad has been transferred out of the ICU. He is much more alert and is doing much better. His physiotherapist has him up and walking everyday. He still requires some assistance to walk, but no longer requires the use of a chest walker to do so. He was even using a bed-side adapted stationary bike this morning for a few minutes. We are very pleased wit h his progress. Dad's memory is improving everyday, but the effects of the head injury are still evident. |
